22 is an album I wrote, performed, recorded and produced, released on vinyl by Dirty Melody Records on 3 May 2024. I also created the artwork for the record.
Lights is an album I made in my studio in 2019 as an experiment in recording with a four-track tape machine, using musical instruments, toys and found sounds to build the songs as sound collages. I wrote, performed and produced the album, which was released on vinyl by Dirty Melody Records on 10 July 2020. I also created the artwork for the gatefold record and made a music video for one of the songs.
On a Flying Frog is an album of eight songs I wrote and recorded in 2015, released as a physical collection of eight colour risograph prints — one image for each song. The set included a code linking to the album on Bandcamp, bringing the music and artwork together as a single project. The prints were produced and released by Tan & Loose Press.
EP2020 grew out of my experiments with making ambient electronic instrumental music rather than songs built around lyrics and traditional pop structures. Following on from Headbounce, I wanted to push the idea further, creating longer-form abstract instrumental pieces using synthesisers alongside found sounds recorded on a handheld tape recorder.
Headbounce was an experiment in moving away from the songs I had been making and exploring ambient electronic instrumental music instead. I wanted to work without lyrics or traditional pop song structures, using synthesisers to make more abstract pieces and allowing the sounds themselves to shape the music.
Very Big Mistakes is a collection of songs I recorded around fifteen years ago, when I was first figuring out how to record and produce music at home. I thought the recordings had been lost, until years later I discovered them all sitting on an old iPod Shuffle.
Fruits is an album of songs I wrote and recorded with my friend Stethe Reed over a period of six months. We developed and recorded the songs together as a collaborative project.
Monday Night Special is an album of songs I wrote and recorded while I was still learning how to make better-quality recordings at home. It captures a period when I was gradually figuring out the recording and production process for myself and developing the way I wanted my music to sound.
WOO YEAH SUPER HAH is an early collection of experimental songs built from found sounds, fragments of old records and various home recordings. I was interested in combining these different sources and seeing what kinds of songs could emerge from them.
LES SINGOS DINGO is a collection of songs I recorded in my bedroom around fifteen years ago, using old toy instruments, a church organ and a ukulele. The limitations of the instruments and home-recording setup became part of the character of the music.
HEY MUMBO is a collection of some of my earliest experiments with digital recording, made in my bedroom around twenty years ago. It comes from a period when I was first learning how to record music digitally and discovering what I could make with a simple home setup.
BEAR CARE is a collection of my first attempts at writing and recording songs, made in my bedroom using a four-track tape recorder I borrowed from a friend. These were the recordings where I first started figuring out how to build songs and record them myself.
